To meet at the river for half and full day trips on the lower section, Race Course or Full Day Rio Grande Gorge…You will park at the 'take out' location for both trips. We will pick you up here and drive you the remainder of the way to the 'put in.'

The take out area is called Taos County Line.

It is located at exactly mile marker 24 on highway 68. That is the road to Taos. It is on your left as you head north to Taos. Park up top, there is no parking for personnel vehicles in the lower lot. Your car may be blocked if you park in the lower lot.

From Santa Fe go north on highway 84/284 approximately 24 miles to the town of Espanola. As you enter Espanola the highway changes number, continue going straight thru all traffic lights, do not turn left to stay on 84/285. At the first stoplight in town the road becomes highway 68. The mile counters for highway 68 begin here so you have exactly 24 more miles to go.

*****DRIVERS***** NOTICE!!! WHEN ENTERING ESPANOLA DO NOT TURN YOUR VEHICLE! DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. LET 84/285 GO ITS WAY. YOUR ROAD IS NOW HIGHWAY 68 AND YOU ARE ON IT BY VIRTUE OF SIMPLY GOING STRAIGHT THROUGH THE FIRST TRAFFIC LIGHT IN ESPANOLA.

Every summer some hapless driver turns left in Espanola contrary to all our best advice and ends up in Southern Colorado before they notice. Then they want a refund which causes an argument they cannot win.

BLM Visitor’s Center: See directions for Taos County Line above and continue on highway 68 another 4+ miles. The BLM Visitor’s Center is on the right as you head north towards Taos and it is also at the intersection of highway 68 and State Road 567 in the town of Pilar.

The only time we meet here is if you are booked for a Taos Box Trip. If you are on any other trip this is not the correct location even though you will see a lot of river related activity here. Many other companies also use this location. But again, if you are not on a Taos Box Trip it is not the correct spot.

Pojoaque: Cities of Gold Casino Hotel Parking Lot. At the intersection of 84/285 and State Road 4, the road to Los Alamos. You will see the casino and hotel. Park your car in the empty western portion of the lot. We are trying to be polite to the customers and leave the spaces close to the entrance for them. Meeting time here is fifteen minutes later than the corresponding meeting time at the SFR Boatyard.

Espanola: In the Wal-Mart parking lot, on the left as you are going north through town. Also look for the Wendy’s and a Chevron Gas Station. Park near the entrance to the parking lot from highway 68. From Santa Fe go north on highway 84/284 approximately 24 miles to the town of Espanola. As you enter Espanola the highway changes number at the first stoplight and becomes highway 68. Continue straight about 1+/- mile.

Rio Chama, Overnights and Full Day trips: You may choose to meet us nearer the put in for this trip, especially if your travel plans have you driving north after the trip concludes. The meeting area, just north of Abiquiu, is the dirt parking lot at the Ghost Ranch Living Museum, the north lot. The paved parking lot is closed and locked daily. If you park there you will not be able to retrieve your car before the next day. Speak with the booking agent for more details.
