2008 Guide School

The cost of the Guide School is $350.00. (must bring your own lunches) This price includes the use of a wetsuit, booties, life jacket, safety equipment, boats and transportation from our Santa Fe location to Pilar.

After Guide School, you will have the opportunity to gain more experience and confidence by riding on commercial trips with the more experienced guides that work for Santa Fe Rafting. Once we feel you are ready to captain your own boat, you can start signing up as a guide for our commercial trips. Work is given out on a seniority basis, but as in the past years with good water levels, everyone has ample opportunity to get their feet wet and enjoy the river. Those seeking employment with Santa Fe Rafting will be required to attend a Guide Orientation where the SFR Employee Manual will be discussed and all new guides are required to read the manual and sign a form that will be placed in the employee's file. This manual will be yours to keep. All Guides are also required to have Basic First Aid and CPR. You will also be required to obtain a CDL License with a Passenger/Buss endorsement. A copy of all certificates must be given to SFR and they will be placed in your file. Personal equipment that is required for employment is as follows.

Personal Flotation Device (Life Jacket), whistle, safety knife, throw bag (rescue rope), straps, carabineer, wetsuit and booties, rain gear (splash gear).
